My lazy Saturday breakfast crawl through Oviedo
Three spots, three plates, and a whole lot of bacon — one local’s guide to starting the weekend right.
Saturday mornings in Oviedo are sacred. I used to be the type who’d sleep till noon and stumble straight into lunch, but then I realized I was missing the best part of the week. Now, a lazy Saturday means a slow breakfast crawl — no rush, just good food and a little bit of local gossip. Over the years I’ve found my favorites, and I’m gonna share ’em with you — complete with the occasional typo and a side of honest opinion.
Town House Restaurant — the old reliable
If you’ve lived in Oviedo more than a month, you know Town House. It’s the kind of place where the waitress remembers your order and the coffee never runs dry. I love going there on a Saturday around 9 — not too early, not too late — and grabbing a booth by the window.
Their eggs Benedict is my go-to: perfectly poached eggs, Home fries that are actually crispy, and a hollandaise that doesn’t taste like it came from a packet. Plus, you can people-watch the whole town walk by. It’s not fancy, but it’s honest — and sometimes that’s exactly what a lazy morning needs.
The Breezeway — patio vibes and French toast
The Breezeway is tucked away on Broadway Street, and it’s the spot I take out-of-town guests when I want to impress without being pretentious. The patio is shaded by old oaks, and there’s always a gentle breeze (hence the name, I guess). I’m a sucker for their thick-cut French toast — it’s custardy on the inside, golden on the outside, and comes with real maple syrup.
What I really like though is the pace. Nobody rushes you. You can sit there for an hour with a second cup of coffee and read a book or just stare at the moss. The service is friendly and low-key, which is the whole point of a lazy Saturday, right?
Quick comparison: which spot for your Saturday?
| Spot | Best for | Price range | Vibe |
|---|---|---|---|
| Town House | Classic diner breakfast | $10-15 | Hustle and bustle |
| The Breezeway | Slow patio brunch | $12-18 | Relaxed, airy |
| Briannas Cafe | Hearty skillets & grits | $10-16 | Cozy, neighborhood |
| Stardust Video & Coffee | Breakfast tacos & coffee | $8-12 | Eclectic, artsy |
Briannas Cafe — where the locals go for grits
Briannas is newer on the scene but it’s already a staple. It’s in a little strip mall near the intersection of 426 and Lockwood, and you might drive past if you blink. Don’t. Inside it’s bright and cheerful, with a chalkboard menu that changes seasonally.
Their skillet scrambles are the star — loaded with fresh veggies, cheese, and your choice of protein. But the real reason I keep coming back is the grits. They’re creamy, buttery, and actually seasoned — none of that bland paste you get other places. Pair it with a biscuit and you’ve got a meal that’ll keep you full till dinner.
Stardust Video & Coffee — breakfast with a side of weird
Okay, Stardust isn’t just a breakfast spot — it’s an experience. It’s a coffee shop, video store (yes, really), and art space all rolled into one. They serve breakfast all day, which is perfect for when you roll out of bed at 11 but still want eggs.
Their breakfast tacos are surprisingly legit: scrambled eggs, black beans, avocado, and a drizzle of crema on a warm tortilla. The vibe is super laid-back, with mismatched furniture and local art on the walls. It’s the kind of place where you can camp out with your laptop or just chat with the barista about the weird movie you rented.
The Oviedo Farmers Market — grab and go
If you’re feeling ambitious, hit the Oviedo Farmers Market on Saturday morning (it runs from 8 to noon at the Historic Oviedo Welcome Center). You can grab a fresh-baked pastry from a local baker, a cup of coffee from a vendor, and maybe some local honey or fruit. I like to pick up a cinnamon roll and then wander through the stalls.
It’s not a sit-down breakfast, but sometimes the best breakfast is the one you eat while walking around saying hi to neighbors. Plus, you can stock up on veggies for the week and feel virtuous about your lazy day.

Questions folks ask me
Are these places kid-friendly?
Yeah, all of them are fine with kids. The Breezeway and Briannas have high chairs, and Town House has a big menu with pancakes and such. Stardust can be a little cramped but kids love the video section.
Do any of them take reservations?
Not really — most are first-come, first-served. Town House can get a line on weekends, so go early or be prepared to wait a bit.
What about vegan or gluten-free options?
Briannas is the best bet for both — they have a vegan skillet and gluten-free toast. Stardust also has some vegan options. Town House and The Breezeway are more traditional but can accommodate if you ask.
Is there parking nearby?
Town House has a small lot, The Breezeway has street parking, Briannas shares a strip mall lot, and Stardust has a tiny lot but there’s street parking too. The farmers market has a big lot.
Which one has the best coffee?
Stardust for sure — they have a proper espresso bar. The Breezeway has good drip coffee. Town House is standard diner coffee, which some people love.
So there you have it — my lazy Saturday breakfast lineup in Oviedo. Whether you’re craving a classic diner plate or something a little quirky, this town has you covered. I hope you get out there and try a few — maybe I’ll see you at the Breezeway with a stack of French toast and a sleepy smile. Happy eating, neighbors.
